Neckipoo, a pretty young feral Siamese cat has been orbiting me outside on and off for several weeks now and was on the second story back porch looking in a few minutes ago. I put out a bowl of food. besides luring with food, do you have any tips on taming? I don't think it will survive the winter if I don't succeed, but I'm afraid to use a cat trap because I'd probably catch a skunk or fox.

Sit with the cat and watch it while it's eating, this will get it used to you. Since I smell of cat anyway, I just sit for a minute and slowly creep in... once you pet it, it's game over Razz It still took me a month or so to get Norl in though but it was warm.

Sam... only took about a week to con him in to getting inside to eat but he was warm for the winter Smile

Zif... I walked around the parking lot of walmart for an hour before he got wind of the snacks... it took a bit of petting and snacks... then I grabbed him by the scruff and carried him to my truck.. he hid for a day inside the house before he came out for food, boy, did he enjoy that! Laughing He's getting pretty normal now.

So... shouldn't take but a few feedings and they know there's food coming. Just creep up slow and talk to them, pet them, get them to eat inside and to get used to the territory.

Basically, the cat has to adopt you though, that's why it took awhile to get Sam in but he did come inside to eat and when it was cold but outside all day, he was pretty wild. I don't miss the biting though, that shit hurt! Laughing Now I can't get him to bite me... well, that sore foot got him close but he didn't bite hard at all. Tame kitty What a Face

Thanks for all the info, Neck.

The kitty hasn't come back even though there is food out. This could get difficult if I only see him every once in awhile. Hopefully he'll at least give me a chance.

Oh yeah, when you're talking to the cat as it eats, when it looks at you, blink your eyes slowly at them

The neighbor tamed the kitties and they hang out for petting and food from her ...I saw it today out my side window. So, I didn't tame the kitties but someone else did so that's the important thing.

I will remember your advice for next time, Neck!
