Mini-vent

Okay... I watch Dancing With The Stars. Several people in my family watch it, including my sister.

Tonight was the FINAL night of competition with the top three competitors. The last night that the audience can vote. Yadda yadda.

It started at 8:00 pm.

My phone rings. It's my sister. Dinner plans for Thanksgiving. I am stunned that she called just as the show was beginning. She's stunned that I don't record the show, but watch it live. Say what? I'm super stunned that she DOESN'T watch it live when she can. Hmmmmmm...

Needless to say, I wasn't too attentive to her since I was trying to watch the show.

Why didn't she call me five minutes earlier?????? Very odd. There would have been no time conflict then. Heh! Anyway... Thankgiving at 3-ish.

For the better part of a year every time I sat down to watch a series or movie, the phone rang and it was someone who wanted to run on. Other people noticed it, so it's become a running joke. I got out of the habit of watching anything that didn't run at least several times in several places because of it. I rent most TV series after they come out on DVD, or watch late night ones. The ones that really infuriated me were the obscure movies on Turner Classic that aren't available on dvd. I'd be 2/3 of the way through and like clockwork the phone would ring. And the phone doesn't ring for me any other time. I only watch a few shows so I didn't want to get TIVO just for that.

I know it's a petty gripe, but... She knows that I watch the show; she watches it too. I missed only a minute or so of it, but still...

If it was someone else calling, who didn't know about the show, it wouldn't be nearly as annoying.

The point of watching a competition "live" is that you vote when it's over. Watching it later you miss the vote option.

It just bugs me that she thought it was okay to call when the show was on... and she knew it was on. Had she just not realized the time, that would have been different. I mentioned it was on, and she said "I know." Ugh!

Ah well.......

I let the machine get it most of the time.
