New kitty, against my will

So it took me 2 days to lure the crying wild kitten from under the hedge outside my house, But I prevailed and it isn't feral after all, it's tame and was just scared. I didn't leave my home and I got free kitty. At a very inconvenient time.

He has a vet appointment for this afternoon to get the all clear before being introduced to the big boys, Rusty and Slate.

Awesome! Good looking cat! Norl, my orange cat came up out of the woods and moved in in 3 months The other cats treat him like a redhead step-child Sam also came up out of the woods but no one messes with him since he's still the largest

It's never convenient to get a new cat but emotion overrules You only have 10 more to go to catch up to me!

I only have three beds on top of my cat tree so three is a good number.

I named him Sam.

When I make my bed into a cat tree, there'll only be 3 hammocks hanging in the middle of the canopy Sam is a good name, it's my Sam's bday, as well as Priss's

Sam had a temperature so they wouldn't give him his shots so he can't meet the other kittehs yet. He isn't sick as far as I can see, though. He's eating, playing, pooping and responding just fine.

Bummer for Sam. Kitty well wishes! He'll be right as rain quick enough I've had that happen with a couple of mine. Just delays, but I think you're in a hurry. It'll all work out just fine though

Sam died yesterday. I had to board him because I had to do the Las Vegas Renaissance Faire and it was too late to cancel. I boarded him at the vet to be safe. They said they found him dead yesterday morning, he died in his sleep. Poor little kitty. I'm sad right now.

I've been reading up on cat viruses, and Feline Panleukopenia sounds like the possible culprit. If he was born with it, sudden death without many symptoms is common. He also had the fever and the rolling walk and klutziness which could have been from the virus damaging his brain. My cats are vaccinated but I'm going to scrub the bathroom the kitten had been in just to be safe. He was a good little kitty, and at least he was fed, warm and safe instead of outside in the cold when he passed. He had been playing with the mouse toy I bought him the day before and everything. If it was panleukopenia, then sudden death was probably the kindest way for him to depart, it is a horrible end for kittens.

Aww I am so sorry, but at least he was in a comfy warm place with food. I think that had to make it better for him.

Same type thing happened to the wild kitty I tried adopting before I got my current tomkitty. So many bad things they can get out in the wild.

I think I'm going to adopt another cat in Sam's honor after I finish my travel for the year. The other cats keep looking for him and calling, they look in closets, in the tub, in boxes, down drains, in heater vents, etc. , they think he just has to be around here somewhere. It's really sad.
I'll get one that already has had shots, and is ready to go, probably from a rescue. The pound here doesn't vaccinate and I don't want to risk having this happen all over again. I really didn't know how many really horrible cat diseases there are now, since before the current boys the last kitty I adopted was over 20 years before, when these diseases weren't common.

Most of my cats are rescues from around town or just walked up. No real health probs aside from the normal and Priss's asthma, thankfully
