The worms are gone, they just left their tunnels through the apples. I think they're wasp larvae, actually. They lay an egg on the apple flower so you're supposed to spray at just the right time to stop them, but I didn't do it. Usually I get some good apples anyway but this year was wasp-a-rama in my yard (paper wasps, wood boring wasps, grass carrying wasps, you name it- it's very weird to see wasps carrying dry grass blades around especially).
The deer eat anything. There are tons and tons of deer everywhere this year. It's hunting season right now so the really smart deer move into town about now, where they can't be hunted. I was just really surprised to see that many out in the middle of the day in the middle of town. They came back last night- more apples were gone and there were more half eaten ones.
