My 20 plus year old cat is dying of cancer now. Up until this morning she could still walk around and eat, but as of today she just staggers around and collapses. It is time for her to be put to sleep, and my vet is too busy to see her today and is then going on vacation, please make an appointment in November.

The other veterinary clinic in town took an appointment. She was limp as a rag doll by the time I got her there, she was ready to go.
It's hard to believe she's gone, I've had her for over 20 years.

yeah, she had a good long life.
Still, I'll miss having the fuzzball all nice and warm crawling into bed this winter.
I'll be traveling too much to get a new cat until after the summer, since I want it to have some settling in time before being put into boarding repeatedly. For the first time in about 30 years, I am catless.

I may go to Las Vegas and get a foreclosure kitty that got left behind, since there are so many of them when the time comes to get another kitty.

1. Makes it a lot easier when one goes, the living get extra attention muggings Razz

Im so sorry your vet did that. Hard enough to lose your kitty friend.

I know how you feel. Apollo was almost 20 when I had to put him down--he had kidney failure. At least the vet was THERE when I called. *rude dildo-headed jerk* Mad

It's hard to know when to get a new one. I've gone about two and a half years now with no furballs, but when I move I'm heading directly to the humane society!

You could come up to SLC and get a new one--there are loads at the shelters. People keep dumping their pets cause they can't afford to feed them.

It doesn't help us any, but the kitties are out of pain and happy now.

This was the last of my set of 5 kitties. She was the youngest, most recent kitty. The oldest one of the herd died at 24.
I haven't picked out a kitty for decades. I found all the set of 5 as strays except for the oldest one who was obtained at the pound when I was in high school.
I'm going to wait until my summer travel is over and then I want to get one or maybe 2. I need a couple of months at home for them to settle in before starting them at the boarding place. There are lots of kitties available here, I made the mistake of looking on petfinders. I want so many of those kitties. I could also go to Clark County Animal Shelter in Las Vegas... they have foreclosure kitties by the gazillion. So many kitties, it will be so hard to choose just one or two. I've already decided I'll narrow it down to one shelter to go to and use petfinders to pre-select which cats I want to see, otherwise it will tear me up to leave so many kitties behind.
