The waterpump was leaking so I got a new one and since I was right there I thought I'd replace the timing chain too. Good thing, it really needed it. I cleaned and painted the timing cover red, painted the waterpump silver cause my 2 cans of gray failed to spray Razz Ah well, the truck is up and running again Cool

Cool! I wish I knew how to do more things like that. I can change tires, oil, filters and stuff but that's about it.

I got an estimate on my car - compressor failing and the car dies every time the defroster comes on so can't use it. It's really a bitch in a Michigan winter to roll down the window to defog the windshield, heh.

One estimate was $1600 at Belle Tire and another at the dealer was only &700 so it's off to the dealer I go as soon as my young'uns are off on Christmas break and I don't need the car every day.

bleh... dunno if I'd do a compressor by myself, that's a ton of muscling... I spose I would do it since I have the time.

Only took 10 years of studying to learn it all Razz (if you wanna be ASE cert) (and no one to teach you anything) Once you understand how the engine and transmission work, it's pretty easy, just alot of labor.

edit: I get to rebuild the power steering pump on my Cutlass now Razz

Tool Time Pump003

One rebuilt power steering pump.

Trivia:

The instructions say there's a filter. It's a magnet Laughing I was wondering why it wasn't coming clean even using Super Clean Razz

A 1/2" drive extention will knock out the sleeve bearing for the shaft. Tap the new one in with a section of 2x4 with a knot. Wink

When assembling and installing new seals, grease everything with vaseline, it disolves in transmission fluid. This is done rebuilding transmissions as well.
